If you’ve never considered selling your home in the fall and winter months, you may be missing out. Here are some of the pros and cons of a sale this time of year.
If you’ve been mulling a home sale recently but you aren’t sure if you should list now or wait until spring, I’ve got good news. Today I’ll point out some of the advantages, as well as some of the disadvantages, of selling a home during this time of year.
Con No. 1: Curb appeal is harder to maintain. In the spring, you have all the green grass and pretty flower beds. You don’t in the fall and winter.
Pro No. 1: Buying a home is emotional. Let me ask you: Is it more emotional to see flowers in the garden bed or holiday decorations in and around the home? When a buyer walks through your home and they can picture it as their home, their emotional triggers light up and they become very serious about buying your home.
Con No. 2: The weather can be bad and unpredictable.
Pro No. 2: The buyers who choose to shop during this weather are great, serious buyers. With less competition and more serious buyers, the opportunity is abundant for you to net the most money.
Con No. 3: Moving during the holidays can be stressful.
Pro No. 3: You can sell during the holidays and wait to move until next year.
